To Cook:

  • Prep Time: 15 Minutes |
  • 15-Minute Chicken and Sausage Gumbo Ya-Ya
  • You could spend most of the day making gumbo your mama’s way or you can open a can of Blue Runner® Ya-Ya Gumbo Base and none will be any the wiser. Trust us, if your grandmother and them had been able to use this amazing base, they would have. We start from scratch so you don’t have to.

Trivia: The name Gumbo Ya-Ya is said to come from the fact that the bayou women who would cook the gumbo all day long would do a lot of talking or “ya-ya-ing.” We would think this gumbo actually causes people not to talk. Not because it renders you speechless necessarily, but because it’s not polite to talk with your mouth full.

Shake can of Blue Runner® Ya-Ya Gumbo Base before opening.

Pour 2 Tablespoons of olive oil into pan.

Add andouille sausage to the saucepan over medium heat. Stir for 3-5 minutes.

    Add 2 cups pre-chopped trinity.

Pour in gumbo base and stir.

Add meat from rotisserie chicken. Put lid on pan and simmer for 3-5 minutes.

    Serve over steamed rice.

    Go git you some cher'.
